Students: Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)

What is SSPR?

Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) allows users to reset their own passwords without contacting IT support, using secure verification methods (e.g., phone, email, security questions). This reduces help desk load and improves user experience.

Eligibility

All Midland College Students

  • Must have at least two authentication methods configured (e.g., phone + alternate email).

Registration Instructions

Students will be prompted to set up SSPR the next time they log in.

Microsoft setup page

Follow the instructions below to register your account.

  1. Login with your current account credentials


     
  2. Download and install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone. Once completed, select the Next option in the following two prompts.




     
  3. Scan The QR Code to connect the Microsoft Authenticator App to your account. Afterward, select Next.


     
  4. You should receive a notification in your Authenticator App that matches the number on the screen prompt. Approve the notification in the app, and then select Next.


     
  5. The next prompt confirms that the app has approved the notification and has completed the setup.


     
  6. Set up a second form of authentication, Receive a code is recommended for this step.


     
  7. Once chosen, you’ll be prompted to enter the code here.


     
  8. Once verified, receive confirmation here. Afterward, select Next.


     
  9. Conclude the registration by selecting Done.

Reset Password Instructions

Follow the instructions below to reset the password.

  1. At the Midland College login screen, select “Can’t Access Your Account?”


     
  2. Enter the account email address, complete the captcha, and select Next.


     
  3. Select 1 of 4 options to verify your account.


     
  4. Follow the next few prompts to verify your account.




     
  5. After completing the verification, you’ll be prompted to reset the password.
