MFA is coming: What you need to know

To better protect your account and personal information, Midland College is turning on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) through Microsoft Authenticator for student accounts. MFA adds a second step when you sign in—so even if someone guesses your password, they can’t access your account without you.

What is MFA?

MFA = your password + one extra verification step, usually a quick approval on your phone.
You’ll use MFA to access tools like:

  • Student email
  • Canvas learning management system (LMS)
  • Student portal / registration
  • Financial aid systems and other college services

MFA setup opens February 2, 2026 and must be complete by February 23, 2026.
Students are encouraged  to set up MFA as soon as possible to avoid sign-in issues.

Eligibility

All Midland College Students

  • Must have at least two authentication methods configured (e.g., phone + alternate email).
